Henrik’s room

This room with a sauna is named after Henrik Nordenswan.

Henrik was the husband of the estate’s former owner and hostess, Anita, and the father of the current owner, Tomas. This apartment was used by Henrik; where the sauna is now, there was previously a bedroom, and the office was located at the former conference room. Henrik would sit at the table and look out over the garden. He was an economist and had a career in the paper industry. He loved flying and received pilot training at the Kauhava Air Force School during the war.

At Soiniitty, it was customary for Henrik to arrive by plane from his business trips to Lahti and Heinola—so customary that the local children thought all planes in the sky were flown by economists. Henrik was very family- and heritage-oriented and considered it important to pass on the estate’s history to future generations. The room contains old aviation-themed objects and paintings. The bookshelf and desk were designed by Henrik himself. He had an interest in architecture studies when he was younger.
