Ebba’s room

This room is named after Nils’s wife, Ebba (née Federley) Borup.

Ebba came from a family of pharmacists in Hamina, where her family had worked as pharmacists for several generations. Energetic and fond of children, Ebba met her husband Nils while she was doing agricultural training at Pukaro Manor, owned by Nils. She lived with her husband at Pukaro Manor but spent a lot of time at Soinity with her daughter Anita’s four children. Ebba brought many traditions into the family that are still celebrated today; for example, at Easter in Soiniitty, people eat pasha, knock eggs together, and children lay chocolate eggs on the floor in nests they have built themselves. The room’s décor includes Ebba’s old items that reflect the history of her pharmacist family. The botanical prints in the room were collected by Ebba during her school years over a hundred years ago.
